ㆍ 2024 KOICA in Statistics l ODA Center for Research and Education, KOICA
On April 16, 2025, the OECD Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD) announced the preliminary ODA figures for 2024. The OECD operates the Creditor Reporting System (CRS) to compare and aggregate ODA results among donor countries according to international standards. Through the CRS, each donor country submits detailed information on its ODA, such as recipient countries, sectors, funding types, project objectives and content, and disbursed amounts. This system enables the OECD to provide statistics that go beyond simple monetary aggregation, offering a comprehensive understanding and comparison of global development finance flows. The preliminary results include not only the results of OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) member countries, but also those of non-DAC member countries voluntarily reporting their results to the CRS, multilateral development banks (e.g. the ADB and World Bank), and international organizations such as UN agencies. The OECD announces the previous year's provisional ODA statistics every April.

ㆍ Guidelines for Agroforestry ODA Projects│Mi Sun Park, Yowhan Son, Asia Khamzina, Florent Anguilles Déhogbé Noulèkoun, Dong-Gill Kim, Jin Kyoung Noh, Taek-Ryoun Kwon, Yohan Lee, Jongwook Lee, Suyeon Min, Hanna Jeong, Eunsoo Kim, Jongmo Jeon
This guideline aims to provide field practitioners with guidance on planning, implementing, and measuring the performance of agroforestry Official Development Assistance(ODA) projects. In addition to this general guideline(Part 1), regional guidelines(Part 2), considering regional characteristics(five regions: Southeast Asia, Central Asia,West-Central Africa, East Africa, and Latin America), and project performance evaluation guidelines(Part 3) are separately developed and provided. Agroforestry is a land use method that combines forestry(tree and forest establishment and management) with agriculture(crop production), livestock farming(livestock breeding and pasture management), and fisheries(aquaculture production and management). Depending on the combination of trees, crops, and livestock, agroforestry is classified into various types such as agrosilviculture(trees + crops), silvopasture(trees + livestock), silvofishery(trees + aquaculture), riparian buffer, and windbreaks. While agriculture is at the center of regional development, particularly rural development, sustainable long-term agriculture without ecological considerations is difficult in reality. In the process of land use, ecological forest restoration and economic agricultural and mining activities often compete with each other. (...) In particular, agroforestry can provide ecosystem services and be utilized as a method to achieve various goals such as food security, energy supply, biodiversity enhancement, and land restoration, and is especially gaining attention as a strategy for climate change mitigation and adaptation (Dhyani et al., 2021; vanNoordwijk et al., 2023). In developing countries, agroforestry is recognized as a solution to address various social, economic, and environmental challenges in local communities, including agricultural land improvement and income generation (Shin et al., 2020).

ㆍ Research on the Development of Guidelines and Performance Measurement Methods for Agoroforestry Projects for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation : Comprehensive Report│ Mi Sun Park, Yowhan Son, Asia Khamzina, Florent Anguilles Dèhogbé Noulèkoun, Dong-Gill Kim, Jin Kyoung Noh, Taek-Ryoun Kwon, Yohan Lee, Jongwook Lee, Suyeon Min, Hanna Jeong, Eunsoo Kim, Jongmo Jeon
Agroforestry refers to a set of land-use practices, systems, and technologies that integrate woody perennials into practices including crop production, pastureland management, animal husbandry, and fish farming (Xu et al., 2013; Atangana et al.,2014) (Figure 1.1, 1.2). It is defined as “the practice of deliberately integrating woody vegetation (trees or shrubs) with crop and/or animal systems to benefit from the resulting ecological and economic interactions (Burgess and Rosati, 2018)”. Whereas mixed farming is the integration of crops and livestock, agroforestry covers the area in a triangle where trees (and shrubs) are integrated with either crops, livestock, or mixed farming (Burgess and Rosati, 2018). Agroforestry is a dynamic, ecologically based, natural resource management system that, through the integration of trees on farms and in agricultural landscapes, diversifies and sustains production for increased social, economic, and environmental benefits.
